QuestionMy 11 week old lab puppy is full of energy and I want to use it in a positive way to keep her out of trouble. We've been taking 2-3 walks a day of about .4 of a mile each. She also does a little fetching in the back yard. IS this about the right amount? Is there a schedule to follow for lengthening the walks according to her age?Thnks for your advise.
AnswerHello, I walk my 3 year old spayed 75 pound healthy weight lab once daily for ten minutes and play fetch with her every weekend....she runs with my smaller dogs in the ayrd for a few hours daily so is fit and trim. I reccomend a walk everyday no amtter what if yuor home all day and can offer 3 short walks thats great if the dogs doenst have access to a yard to run in. If you do have a yard and your dog is allowed to run around in it a short 15 minute walkk daily is enough. Also you dont want to over exercise a young larger breed puppy it can stress the developing joints.
