Question
hello. i have a 5 weeks old baby labrador.i have a query about its feeding. i use the orphaned puppies milk food. this is the only thing i use to feed my baby lab. but this doesn't seems better.its cries due to hunger very soon after feeding and hav some stomach prob. the either day. he(my pet) also behaves lazy sumtimes. am i giving my pet the correct food ? is there any homemade food i can feed him. if yes what sort of food it would be ? please help.

Answer
Pick up a bag of dry puppy chow.  Any of the common brands will do.  Wet it down with water to make a thick soup.  Give it at least a quarter of a cup before adding water 4 times a day.  Even the cheapest puppy chows are formulated to have the complete and balanced diet puppies need.  It would be very difficult to do so with a home made diet.

In another week, it should be eating the food dry.  In 2 weeks, it should be eating a half cup each of three times a day if you are feeding something like Iams or Pro Plan.  It will need more of a cheaper food and less of a more expensive one.

It will need the company of other dogs, but you must carefully limit it to ones known to be in good health and up to date on shots.

Good luck.
