yellow lab with pink nose

i adopted justin from humane society/found on street as stray/had tumor on rear left leg/had removed/no cancer/has pink nose instead of black/appears  to be deaf/appears to know sign language/how can i tell if deaf due to genetics or health problems/still paying on last vet bill/cant take him now/thank you

The pink nose is fairly common.  Some of them their nose is always pink.  Some of them it starts black, and fades to pink with age and a lack of sunlight.  

Even if you did take him to the vet, you might not learn anything about the hearing.  If somebody took the time to teach him sign language, it is unlikely anything can be done about the hearing.
