Question
Hello. My name is Harlin I have written you a few times about my female jack Molly. She is pregnant. She has been giving out alittle bit of discharge from her vagina. I was wondering about how much longer before she gives birth? I know you cannot give me an approximate time, but maybe give me some better signs to look for. please help. Thank you,  Harlin.

Answer
Hi Harlin,
Do you the date she mated with the male?
Gestation is usually around 56 - 60 days
So count, 58 - 60 days from when the dogs were first together...
If she is near the 58th day, you can take her temperature rectally with a digital
thermometer and if her temperature drops by a full degree (for example 100 down to 99) then that is a good sign that she will be ready to give birth within the next 24 hours.
She will also start, pacing, digging in her bed getting ready....
There is also a clear stringy discharge that will come from her vagina indicating that it will
be very soon (within 24 hours).
I hope you are ready! If not, make sure you research how to whelp puppies, there are lots of websites and videos that can help teach you! Read and learn all you can! (unless you are taking her to the vet or another experienced person to do it)?. Make sure you have the nearest emergency veterinary hospitals phone number handy in case you need help or have to get there.
Make sure she has a clean, quiet place where the two of you can deliver these pups!
Glad to help - please let me know when they are here! Good luck!!
