Peeing all the time!

Question
I have a female Jack Russell terrier and she is about 2 years old.  We have recently moved into my fathers house and she won't quit peeing on things.  The worst is she pees on the bed, (only where I sleep not my husband).  I don't know what to do anymore.  I'm afraid it's because she doesn't think she is getting enough attention and we have a baby on the way and some of her attention is going to go away.  We let her out ALL the time. She has a little tie she stays on outside but then she will come in and pee!! What should we do!

Answer
Hi Shannon,
Sorry about the stress! I don't believe your dog is craving attention, but instead she is marking her territory and claiming the new place as her own! Even the new bed your sleeping in! Also,
does or did your father ever have a dog? or a cat?  If he did and the dog/cat urinated ANYWHERE in the house, then your dog is now trying to cover up that scent with her own urine, thus making it "hers".
The only way to stop this behavior is to thoroughly clean and get the urine smell out of the house. A rather difficult task. You need to buy a specialized animal odor eliminator like URINE GONE or GONZO or other product and clean the areas that she is peeing on.
The other possibility might be that she has a bladder infection and can't help but pee all the time. If you suspect this might be the case, you should take her to the vet for a check up. Antibiotics clear it right up.
Very best of luck. Things will eventually calm down once you have all lived there for a while! Take care.
