Question
Hello! I am about to buy a Pom puppy, it is going to be a few months, but I want to do as much research as I can now. I have a Beagle already. I want to make sure that this is the easiest transition possible for everyone. I also have a kitten but I dont see that being a problem. Anything that you could offer as advice for the transistion, and any care, and things that I should do before it arrives. Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,

Kim

Answer
Hi Kim,

Is your beagle friendly?  Most are, and because poms tend to get along with other dogs (and cats) especially if introduced as a puppy you shouldn't have any problems.  I think you would be happiest with a pom that will weigh about seven pounds as an adult, as opposed to one that is smaller.  They are a little studier and would be better able to play with your dog.  A seven pound pom will be quite small next to your beagle, though.

There isn't anything special that you need to do before it arrives.  When you do get one make sure to give your other animals lots of attention so they don't feel left out.  If you haven't already, read my previously answered questions for helpful information on pom care and information on how to find a good breeder.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,
Carrie
