QuestionOur 9 yr. old female has developed what might be an auto-immune problem with a few small lumps under skin an a couple of sores. I am concerned about her need for better nutrition as her fur is not as healthy looking as it used to be,gorgeous. She eats Science Diet Light and healthy snacks a dinner time. Where I live there are no special vitamins for dogs, jus the run of the mill. And online there so man I am confused. Can you recommend a specific diet for her? And vitamins?
AnswerSorry - I did not get your original email. Have you had her checked at her vet? That would be the first step. There are a lot of foods out there and if she gets the right one, she should not need vitamins. Look for a food that has no by-products, corn is way down on the list or none, no gluten. Wellness, Solid Gold, Blue Wilderness - check the ingredients. You may have to order online. Science Diet usually has by-products. Feeding more natural, human grade ingredient dog foods have good nutrition, are good for skin and coat. I feed my dogs food like this and all of their coats shine - even my 14 year old.
