BOXER PROBLEMS

Question
Hi! I have a 4 year old boxer/lab that is an excellent dog, except 2 things.... she jumps on anyone that is not her family and she runs away at any chance she can get. I think it's because she doesn't get a chance to get out much. I'm moving to a new place and will be excersizing her on a much more regular basis and also probably getting another boxer in a couple of months. I am also thinking of taking her to obedience training.   I can hardly take her up to anyone though without her going crazy and trying to jump on them and she pees whenever anyone touches her. I have 3 small kids too and I'm wondering if there will be any problems when I bring another dog into the house.  How can I get her to not be so jumpy and go nuts whenever she sees another dog or person? Do you think another dog will help or hinder this problem?  She sits, lays down, speaks, stays, jumps up on paws and stays in the air for a treat, gives boths paws, she's a good dog, she'll let my 3 boys do just about anything to her....just those two problems.

Answer
Proper socialization and behavior training should have begun when she was a puppy.... what is acceptable behavior and what is not.

Jumping on people is not acceptable and now, it will be most difficult to break.

You will have to block her from the front door when someone knocks. Block with your body which tells her it is your territory and not hers and to back away.

If you need to leash her and keep her submissive laying on the floor, then do that while company visits.

Do not bring another dog in the house until her behavior has been modified and controlled.
