Question
Dear Rosie,

I would like to follow-up in regards to the sleeping-in-bed with me ordeal.  My biggest problem living in this three bedroom flat is this:  I presently have his litter box in my bedroom, and he is quite acclaimated to where everything is now.  My bedroom is quite large with a bathroom off to one side.  So I'm afraid that if I take him out of the room at night, he may punish me and make some "doo doo" somewhere else.  Or should I set up another litter box for him; possibly in the computer room?  Would this completely confuse him?  Or depress him?

Also, that's sounds great about the glass falling off the edge if he jumps up to the counter, however, I'm afraid then when he gets scared and jumps down, that he may cut his paw or something, is this a possibility?

Anyway, thanks for all of your input!

Sincerely,

Nina and Sugar(my kitten's name)

Answer
Hello again, Nina!  (And cute little Sugar)  :o)

As far as your concern about him "going" somewhere out of punishment...don't worry too much.  Yes, getting another litterbox would be a good idea.  It won't confuse him, it will merely give him another litterbox, and a better range of places to "go".  That's good thinking!  :o)

About something falling off the counter when he jumps on it, I would make it something unbreakable, yet something that makes a good amount of sound when it falls.  Maybe you could try empty soda cans?

About him getting depressed...if you see him acting as such after a couple weeks of shutting your bedroom door, you might then consider getting him a friend to play with.  This will help him adjust better.  If you decide to do this, write me so I can tell you the best way to introduce them, what age/gender of kitty would work well with him, etc.

Let me know how things progress, ok?

Hugs!!

Rosie
