my cats wont leave the room!

Question
I've got two cats (a three year old neutered male and a six year old spayed female), and I've recently-ish moved into a new home. There is a one year old neutered male already in the house. All cats involved are slightly neurotic. I can't seem to convince my cats to leave my bedroom. I know they need time to adjust, but its been two months! i just started using a pheromone plug in thats supposed to calm stressful situations, and am hopeful it will help. I've tried putting their food and litter downstairs, leaving trails of catnip and treats...nothing has helped! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Dear Molly,

Your cats are very scared of their new home right now, so whatever room you're in, they'll want to be with you, and they probably aren't used to the smell and look of the house. Catnip makes cats crazy and hyper as well, which explains the neurotic behavior! If your cats like windows, sinks, beds, or anything that makes them happy and comfortable, just keep them in that area. If your cats like stuffed animals or toys, keep them in area surrounded by that. They might not like noises either, and maybe your bedroom is the only quiet, peaceful area, so find them a relaxing place. Give your cats some time to settle in, and if it doesn't work, then spray them with water and telling them "no no".

I hope I helped, and thanks so much for choosing me as an expert. If you need any further help then just simply e-mail me or ask another question. Thanks!
