Question
My 7 month old cat runs around like crazy, all the time. He sleeps for an hour tops, eats and runs around like crazy. Is this normal behaivor, or is there something wrong with him? He weighs only 6 pounds, but he is constantly eating and running around. hes been checked for worms and has all of his shots, so it isnt anyhting medical.

Answer
Danielle,

I have found that there isn't any 'normal' behavior when it comes to cats! He may be a tad neurotic (I have a couple of those!), or he may just be bored. Have you thought about getting a kitty friend his own age for companionship and to play kitty games with (including chase?)? At 7 months he is still young.

Most cats need a friend to keep them from getting bored, to groom, for comfort, and to snuggle with. If that is not an option, you need to get a lot of cat toys for him, and spend a lot of time playing interactively with him. Some cats that are happy and healthy just have a LOT of energy. A kitty condo scratching tree that he can run up and down on is helpful. Try rubbing some catnip in a spot on the carpet. They get really silly (though rarely some cats aren't affected by it) and then they sleep afterwards. It's funny to watch their reaction to it.

I hope this help some.
