Question
My 8 yr old DHS has always had good pottyhabits. I know that when urinary tract infections are present, cats will tend to pee outside the box, however, his problem is not peeing outside the box, it's pooping.  He has one place he prefers, by the back patio doors (he likes to go outside, too)..i'm not sure how i can correct this.  Any suggestions?

Answer
you could try putting the litterbox near the door. i have seen this problem in many cats, and it is not really a problem in the cats mind. its not a heath problem, its not a mental problem, some cats just dont like pooping in the box.....just give in to it and lay some newspapers down or go to the pet store and go to the dog section and buy some piddle pads to lay on the floor.
