Question
Hey,
I have a male Burmese cat, neutered, and he's about 6 years old. He has a strange habit, of jumping at different spots on my walls. He kind of gives a little meow, then jumps at something, and scratches at the wall. At first I thought maybe he was just chasing shadows, but it is always at the same few spots, and even when there are no shadows. I was wondering if you might have some ideas as to what he is doing. Also, he is a little bit chunky, and sometimes has a problem with hairballs, so I tried switching him to Iams weight and hairball control food, mixing it in with his regular stuff, like it is said, but he picks around it to get to his old food!! Any ideas about some good food for him to try? He is very picky. Even with wet food, he won't eat the chunks of meat or anything, he just licks up the gravy and leaves the meat. Any ideas you might have would be great! Thanks in advance!

Answer
He is jumping at the wall because he is playing, and most likely bored.  Does he have toys?  If so, maybe he needs new ones to capture his interest.  If not, then I would get him some.  Get several different kinds and let him choose his favorites.

As for food, don't mix them anymore, just give him the IAMS and he will eat it if he is hungry, and get used to it.  My cats do the same thing with wet food....  They lick up the sauce and leave the meat.  Some cats are just weird that way.  Good luck and write again if you have any other concerns, I always like to help.
