Pooping on the bed

Question
I just adopted a male altered cat who has been a resuce shelter for a yr. Was adopted out 1 time a yr ago and brought back because he pooped on the bed. He has been here for about 6 hrs and pooped on the bed...why and is there any hope?

I always tell people to try the Feliway products. (sold at pet stores) They have plug-ins and they also have sprays
It is used for urine marking and other unwanted behavior
It contains pheromones that send out a friendly signal to your cat. I hope this helps!
