is it ok to spank your cat if they missbehave after you have told them NO? and also i use a water gun to get them out of something and they just get back into it what can i do?

Spanking a cat is a waste of time.  Yelling No to a cat is a waste of time.  The water gun approach will work ok, but you need to have it handy and once you are no longer around, the inappropriate behavior may resume.  In fact you may make them wary of you and they may not want to be around where you are!

If you want to learn to discipline your kitten, I would suggest using a behavior modification technique called clicker training.  You can check out Karen Pryor's web sit:

If they are getting into something they should not, then you really only have one option.  Make it impossible for them to get where you do not want them to go!

The good news is that by the time they are older, most kittens outgrow much of their mischievousness.
