Lumps on stomach

Question
I have a 9 - 10 month old stray, a couple of month's ago I had him neutered. Well sence he has become the fastest thing I have ever seen (when neutered weighed a little over 2 lb's, now weighs at least 8 lbs if not more) and he has 2 lumps on his stomach that are oval shaped. They are about 2 1/2 inches long and 1 in wide. I am going through a great foundation called Love A Stray but I can not afford to take him to the vet, and they won't cover vet bill's. Do you have any idea's on what is going on? I am waiting for him to be put up for adoption, we are pretty far down on the list, but If I have to I will try to scrounge up money, to help poor Romeo.

Answer
I hate having to answer questions like this because there's just no way to do anything other than make you sad with the answer. It is very unusual for tumors to develop in such a young cat, and they could possibly be something else (abscesses?) but whatever these lumps are, they require the attention of a vet. If they are abscesses, then hopefully they can be treated without it costing too much -- but if they are tumors, given his situation, it would probably be best to just  plan on putting him to sleep before his quality of life deterioriates too much. You cannot reasonably expect that someone will be willing to adopt a cat with cancer, and you also really can't offer a cat with the potential for such a problem UP for adoption.

Doesn't your foundation have a working relationship with any vets that would be able to take a look at him and help you assess what to do? I would think they could refer you somewhere and that you could come up with the cost of an office visit to try to strategize the best plan with someone who at least has an idea of what you might be looking at here.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.
