2nd male cat

My mother just recently passed away.  She has a cat "Doc".  She passed away so suddenly.  We left Doc in the house while we cleaned it out "approx 2 weeks.  Then, I decided to take him home with me.  I have a cat (simba).  She is 1 1/2. Doc is 7 yrs old.  I live in a studio apt.  When I brought Doc home, they smelled each other.  They are both males.  Now, the hissing and growling started.  Doc is up on my vanity, Simba, keeps looking at him, then she goes about her business, until she hears Doc moving.  I'm scared, that they will fight and scratch eyes out.  "will this happen?  Help me please, I'm trying to do the right thing, mother mother loved this cat.
