Question
Hi Norm... After reading your answer about a kitten being Blue Point. Ok I'll get to my question. I have a Male Kitten born to a Mixed Tabby and a Gray Father. The Kitten Looks like a Blue Point. It has mauve pads. His brothers are all gray. Do you think this is rare?

Answer
Rita,

Is it clear the kitten is pointed?  Was the kitten snowy white when it was born and is just now beginning to color up?

The gene that produces pointed kittens is a recessive and has to be carried by both parents for any pointed kittens to occur. the pointed gene is pervasive in the feral population, so it is not surprising to have a pointed kitten born in the litter. Another litter with the same parents could have no pointed kittens or all pointed kittens or anything in between.

Best regards... Norm.
