My cat is about 10 Female, she goes to the vet regulary. Recently she has been scratching her ears alot to wear the fur on the top is being scratched off and the inside of the ear has soars. Ive taken her into get allergy shots and that helps for a bit but they tell me that it could damage her liver. She wont change foods either weve tried that. Is there anything else I should be trying?
Answer -
I am utterly amazed that your vet has not given you an Elizabethan collar for her to wear. She won't like it but it will prevent her from getting at her ears. Also, hasn't any sort of anti-itch cream or spray been prescribed to help relieve the symptoms? What food is she eating now and what other kinds have you tried? I may be able to suggest something that she will eat. Give me more detail if you can.

Answer
Well, I'd go to the Foster and Smith web site and check out their Itch Stop product -- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=3495&N=2002+113734. I haven't used it but it looks as though it could be quite soothing for your poor kitty's ears. They will probably have an Elizabethan collar as well.

Then I would check out www.petfooddirect.com and see if you can get a couple of samples or small bags of some of their all-natural foods. Evolve and Innova are good brands but there are plenty of others. Nature's Recipe is also good. These foods have less chemical additives, which might be what your cat is reacting to.  You might also want to investigate www.healthypetnet.com and try their food. I used it for quite a while when I was showing an American Shorthair and a Manx. Both did very well on it and their coats had a wonderful sheen. It is also supposed to be higher in quality and lower in allergens than many of the more "mainstream" foods.

I hope this is of some help to you.
