QuestionThe shaking is more like shivering, but it seems to be mostly her head that shivers. Most of the time she can run & she plays, eats & drinks well. If it is pain, can I give her a little aspirin?

-----Question-----
I have a 12 year old manx kitty. She has had problems with her hind legs in that she is very splay-footed and sometimes it hurts to walk. I've found that massaging her hind area, the hip, and leg help. She stops hurting & walks better. In the last week, I've noticed that when her walking gets bad, she starts shaking - like shivering - her head. She acts a little like she wants to scratch her head & she shrinks a little. It's very scary. Any ideas?

I can't quite picture what you mean by shaking her head, but it could simply be from pain if her hips are that bad. I definitely think you need to take her in and have her examined by a vet. It's also possible she could have some sort of issue with her ears if she is shaking her head.

AnswerNever give your cat aspirin unless a veterinarian has instructed you do to so. Cats are very sensitive to NSAIDs (Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The only other thing that I can think of that could be causing her shivering is something neurological. I'm sorry I wish I could be more helpful. If she is running and playing, and eating well then that is a very good sign. If her symptoms get worse, definitely take her to the vet.
