Shaking

Question
I have a half Siamese, half Hymalain (sp?) cat.  I saw Siamese in your profile so I decided to ask you for help.  I noticed today that he was shaking.  I've had him for about a month or so.  He doesn't seem to be scratching his ears.  He is just shaking all over.  My fiance and I left for several hours today and we came home and he is still shaking.  I don't think it's earmites since it's not just his head that is shaking.  It's his whole body.  I was wondering if you could help me.

Answer
Hi Heather.  I don't know of any condition which Siamese are prone to that could cause this.  It could be the chills.  Cats do get them when they have a fever.  Or it could be something wrong neurologically.  Lead poisoning might be a possibility if you live in an old house.  Growths pressing on nerves or the brain could be the cause.  Or diseases such as feline infectious peritonitis or toxoplasmosis, which can cause severe neurological problems, might also be possible.  I definitely would get him to the vet ASAP if it continues or any other symptoms like loss of appetite or lethargy appear.
