Kathy-black Siamese

Question
Hi Jessica.  My siamese cat mom (ivory body, brown points, blue eyes) just had a litter of all black kittens.  Does this mean the father was a black cat?  Will these all black siamese kittens eventually turn lighter shade?  Also, I was trying to get the email address of Kathy.  If she still wants a black siamese I will be more than happy to give her one or two so long as I know she will be providing a good home for them.  Unfortunately, I  cannot keep the kittens.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Selene.  It's highly probable that the father of these kittens was black.  The kittens' coats are not likely to lighten up at all as they get older.  Once in a while, we see black half Siamese kittens turn into an interesting smoke or frosted color, with fur that is white at the base and black at the tips, or vice versa, but this typically falls out as their all-black adult coat grows in.  Cats who are going to have color points (color on the face, ears, legs and tail) are born white, and the points darken with age.

Unfortunately, I don't have the email addresses of anyone whose questions I answer - everyone accesses their answers through allexperts.com.  So I am unable to put you in contact with Kathy.  But best of luck finding good homes for the babies.  I'm sure they're gorgeous!
