Cat may be pregnant

Question
I recently realized yesterday that my young cat became in heat for the first time. In the past we have always gotten our cats neutered, mostly to prevent them from roaming. But with this one we have just kept putting it off mostly because things are busy! We kept trying to get her back in the house but she kept running and hiding from us under our deck. We cannot get under there, let alone see under there very well. While trying to get her in, we noticed a tom cat under the deck with her...were not sure if anything happened, like i said we couldn't see very well. I know you can tell if a cat is pregnant after 3 weeks, but is there anyway we could like go to a vet in the next couple of days and him be able to confirm it right then? Thanks for any answers!

Answer
Teri,

21 days after breeding, the queen's nipples will turn bright pink and become more prominent.  A few days after that they will go back to normal until a couple of weeks before birth.

Yes, by all means see your vet.  While you are there, should she be pregnant, you should set up a plan for what to do if she has difficulties during birth, especially after office hours.

Please let me know what you discover.

Best regards... Norm.
