kitten has a lot of gas

Question
I have a 2 month old opharned cat, that I got from a vet clinic. I believe the lady told me they were feeding him Iams (dry)cat food. I had already bought nine lives(dry) cat food. He likes the food, in fact he eats all the time. He just passes a lot of gas. I have only had him for about 3days, and I'm wondering is it just a change in the type of food, or the amount of food, or a medical issue. He does use the bathroom good, so he's not constipated. Can you help me please.

Thank You,
Josie

Answer
Josette,

I would go back to what they were feeding the kitten.  He has just had a major upheaval and is rather unsure of what is going on.  So, the more you can do from his previous situation, the better he will adjust.  Same food, same litter, same toys, etc.

The change in food can certainly bring about the gas.  I would go back to the Iams and schedule a visit with the vet for a check up (which is a good idea anyway, whenever you get a new kitten).

Best regards... Norm.
