Question
I have a brother and sister cat and they are just 6 months old now, and I was wondering if they will try to reproduce together or not. They have never been separated or near other cats other then a birth, their others siblings. Will the reproduce together or not? my vet said they shouldn't but i am concerned cause I find the male trying to hump the female but the female fights it are tried to get away. what do i do?

Answer
Stephanie,

Yes, they most certainly will reproduce together.  Cats can become sexually active and capable of producing kittens as young as 4 months of age.  Being siblings does not matter to cats (believe me!).

Thus, it is time to get them neutered and spayed, respectively.  According to the research, the neutering and spaying can be done as young as 12 weeks with no ill effects.

The other option is to separate them when the female is in season (if you always know when she is in season).  Overall, both cats and you will be much happier if they are both altered.

So, I would make an appointment immediately, and have them neutered and spayed, post haste!

Best regards... Norm.
