my cat is 7/8 years old and was fixed 6 years ago. she is peeing red, it's not
dark red or black but it is definitely not pink. what could this mean?

Hi Corrie, this is a seriuos condition (or can become one quickly). Please make sure you get an appointment to see your Vet ASAP! This could mean your gal is getting a urinary tract infection, fixed by your Vet giving antibotics. Please get her treated as soon as possible, because this can cause a total blockage and kill a cat.
