drinking from the tap

Question
Hi Karen, I have a 13mnth old neutered pedigreed cornish rex.He is very vocal and has recently started to insist to drink water only from a tap. I have invested in a pet drinking fountain(had to import it, as in the UAE none available)needless to say, he is not bothered. Misha still insists in drinking from the tap. Now this starts at 05h00 every morning. He will call, then growl and then it is the whining... non stop. OK, I do get up to open a tap for him, but he will wait until I'm back in bed and then he wants to drink again. The younger female 7mth(Shiloh) will drink from the fountain, no problem. Misha is healthy, very active and a lovely cat. What can I do to get him interested in the pet fountain?

Answer
Hi Estee,

Sounds like you have a very bossy cat there. It is very simple to get him to drink from the fountain. Right now he has you trained to open the faucet for him. You are going to have to buckle down and not open a faucet for him. He will whine and annoy you but you have to stand firm. He won't stop drinking. He will use the fountain but he will test you to se if you are firm in your resolve. If you don't respond to him he will seek other water. He will also stop bothering you after a while. But you have to make up your mind to do this and know that he will pester you for a while. Ignore his crying. It will last for a little while until he knows that he isn't getting his way. Good luck and let me know what happens.

Ciao, Karen
