long cat birthing

cat started birth at 1:30pm 1st was stillborn, placenta has emerged an hour later but is not coming out, she does not seem to be in pain has ate and drank, i've  pulled on the placenta lightly but is not coming. It is now 9:00 at night

Hi Eva, are you sure it is the placenta coming out and not another kitten? Most likely a kitten would sit there for a while before she contracts and delivers it.. but usually there is no problem with passing placentas.
Can you give me more details? first litter? breed of cat? is she nursing the 1st kitten? is she contracting?
