Question
Six weeks ago our cat had kittens.  Today we sold all 4 of her kittens.  Tonight she if very uncomfortable being full of milk.  Is there something we can do or do we just wait for her to dry up?  How long does it take?  Is it necessary to see a vet?

Answer
Hi Donna, there is nothing you can do now unless a friend or neighbor has one of her kittens. You could borrow the kitten back twice a day to relieve the pressure on her plus it is very good for the kitten to have the presence of mom for a few more weeks. Otherwise if that is not a possibility then the only thing you can do is limit her liquids and she will have to wait it out. You can bind her with an old pair of nylons cut with holes for her legs, and slipped over her if you think she would put up with that? It would help relieve some of the discomfort for her.
