My kitten is not urniating!

Question
Hello,
I just got a kitten 2 days ago and I haven't seen him/her go the bathroom yet.  When I was given the kitten I was told that that it was 5 1/2 weeks old but when I got it home it didn't even know how to eat whole food.
So I went out and bought the kitten formula and it has been eating about every 4-6 hours. I just have not seen the kitten remove it's bowels yet.  I have rub the kittens stomach and uterus with a warm face cloth and even a cotton ball.
Could it be that it using that bathroom and I just can't see it.?  When the kittens wakes up it loves running under my reclining chair and does not coming out right away.  Could he be doing his business under their and maybe eating it?
If u can please give me more ideas or should I take it to the vet Monday morning!

Answer
Kris,

This kitten is not yet weaned!!!!!  I would confine the kitten to one room, to begin with, and put her in the litter pan after each feeding.  This way you will have a better idea of what the kitten is or is not doing.

Also, it is a good idea to take the kitten to the vet for a check up, just to make sure all is all right.

By 5 1/2 weeks, this kitten should be peeing and pooping on its own, and, no, kittens normally do not eat their own poop!

A very helpful book on raising kittens is "Kittens for Dummies" by Dusty Rainbolt; Wiley Publishing, Indianapolis, IN; 2004.

Please let me know what you find out.
