CAT PET DOOR

HOW CAN I TRAIN MY CAT TO GO THROUGH A NEWLY INSTALLED PET DOOR?  HE LIKES TO TRY AND OPEN DOORS WHEN HE WANTS IN BUT SEEMS TO BE AFRAID OF THE PET DOOR.  VERY SMART MANX CAT.

The trick is to get him to think it is his idea.

I would hold the door open and use treats to entice him to come through the open door.  If this is successful, lower the door a couple of inches, and see if he will still come through, if enticed.

Eventually, if he comes through successfully, give him extra treats.  Pretty soon, he should get the idea.
