my cat has lumps under the pits of his front legs and lumps under the same area of his back legs are these swollen glands?

Thanks for your question.  I've never come across this before but it sounds like he has swollen lymph glands.  Has he been sick lately?  Swollen lymph glands are usually a reaction to illness or it can be an indication of something more serious.  How does he look otherwise? Is he grooming himself?  Has he lost any weight?  Is he eating and drinking okay? I would definitely take him to the vet for a check-up to include blood tests.
Please let me know what the vet thinks it is, I would be very interested to know.
