cut skin

Question
I accidentally cut my cat's skin while trying to cut a mat out, about a 1/2 in cut blood just at sight. What should I do?

Wipe the area with a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide to clean out the wound then apply an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin or Polysporin.  Keep an eye on it and keep cleaning it and applying the ointment until it looks like its clearing up.  If it starts to look really "angry", red and swollen that is, and especially if you see any puss coming out of it you'll need to take your cat to the vet for some oral antibiotics, but if you clean it and keep the ointment on I think it will be fine.
