QuestionHey, My chihuahua was acting weird yesterday. Laying around and shivering mostly. She did not have a fever. Today she seems to be in pain when she tries to move around. She lays in her bed and yelps now and then. I thought maybe constipation because she had the problem before but her house mate the poodle just brought me a chicken bone that she must have gotten from the trash and stashed somewhere a week ago. Do I need an exray! I hate to see her hurting and I don't want to lose her but I am very short on cash.
AnswerI would recommend a trip to the vet. An examination is in order and then based on those findings your vet can determine if an x-ray is needed. The shivering could also be due to low blood sugar or low calcium. Pain when moving could be from a strained muscle or Lyme Disease as constipation does not normally make them that painful and they will try to go repeatedly versus just laying there.
