Question
My dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma.  She has a lump on the side of her mouth about an inch long.  She is a schnauzer mix.  I did not see the lump as she has a schnauzer cut.  I took her into the vet because she was coughing.  While under observation, (I had left her at the vet), the doctor noticed the lump.  She shaved around the lump area as she said she wanted to get a better look at it.  She never asked if she could shave her.  Needless to say, the lump has been exposed for the last month and is now constantly bleeding and there appears to be infection setting in. I took her back to the vet but they gave me hydrocortisone so she would not itch it. She licks this off of the wound. They told me it may never heal.  I feel if the vet would have not shaved her hair my dog would not be in so much pain at this time.  How can I get the bleeding to stop and the wound to heal?  It is on the side of her mouth. Please help!

Answer
I do not think shaving the area is causing the problem...it is her weakened immune system and the cancer's effects.  What I would recommend is feeding an all-natural diet that is void of dyes, preservative, by-products and very high in protein (i.e. avoid corn and other carbs).  High protein, low carb diets help starve cancer cells.  Also supplement with A LOT of fresh veggies and small amounts of raw liver.   In addition, getting her on Transfer Factor will boost her immune system and help fight the infection and cancer naturally.  Canine TF Complete is your best bet...mixed 2-3 times the labeled dose with her food each day.
