Question
Last night I came home to find my husky mix limping and not putting any weight on one of his front paws. I live on a farm and suspect he may have had it stepped on by a cow, as he loves to chase them. There's no visual damage or blood, but he yelps if any weight is put on it. I have a vet appt later this afternoon, but would be interested in any advice you may have. Thank you.

Answer
Yes it is possible to be stepped upon by a larger animal.  It is also possible that a bee or wasp sting occurred or his foot became caught in something that strained his foot before he freed it.  Your veterinarian will be able to x-ray to look for fractures and set it immobility to allow healing.

You will want to keep any cast or splint if so needed clean and dry and if he has a lot of pain your veterinarian will be able to prescribe pain relievers to help.

If you have any questions following the appointment please feel free to write back and I will be happy to help once I know what they found on the physical examination.

Beat of luck to you and your canine companion.
