Kitten eyes

Question
I have an eight week old kitten named Layla. Sometimes she has stuff in her eyes that is a light green color. It dries on the fur around her eyes and I just pick it off. It comes off with ease but I know she hates it when I do that. I'm concerned that it might be an eye infection but sometimes I have stuff in my eyes so I'm wondering if I'm worrying for nothing. It's not constantly draining and it just looks like the stuff people get in their eyes sometimes. What should I do?

Answer
Meggie -

Have your kitten checked by a veterinarian. There are a couple of possibilities - allergy, infection, or the actual conformation of the eyelids.  Those factors can cause a discharge from the eyes.

This would also be a good time to begin her vaccine series if you have not already done so. Have her vaccinated and spayed and the doctor should be able to check her eyes at that time.
