Panting itching Dog

Question
QUESTION: My 4 year old black lab has been biting, and itching, and panting for about a week now.  We have checked for fleas and don't find anything.  There are some small wounds (maybe scratching) on his chest area and on the top of his head but nothing is red or appears to be irritated. Out other lab who is 8 doesn't show any of the same symptoms.  Any ideas?

ANSWER: Lisa - could it be environmental Allergies?  Is there anything new around you?  (In the house or outside?)
Did you feed anything new ?
What brand and flavor of food do you feed him.  Also, has this ever happened before.  Does he swim in a lake often?

QUESTION:   Wow.  Thanks for the quick response.Nothing new here that hasn't always been here.  We are feeding the same thing we always feed him.  Nutro rice and lamb.  Our other dog has wheat allergies so we feed them both the same thing.  This has never happened before.  He has been swimming in Lake Michigan recently but he has had a bath after that and no one in the family has had any problems.  I was thinking that it might be like swimmers itch too but no problems for the family so...
