litterbox problems

My cat is 6 months old and she was for awhile using the litterbox and now she doesnt at all. It is clean.  She pees and poops anywhere she wants.  I have put her nose in it and put her in the litterbox and still continues to do her business elsewhere.  We have 2 other cats they are now 7 yrs old.  I have never had this problem with them.  She poops in boxes and pees even on my bed.  What can I do to prevent this any longer?  Please help

Inappropriate urination and defecation is a frustrating problem.  It can be either behavioral or medical.  

The first step is to take her to a veterinarian to see if there is a medical reson for her to be avoiding the litterbox.  If there is not, then your veterinarian should be able to give you several behavior modification techniques to try and solve the behavior problem.  

It's not easy, though, because a lot of time we cant identify the true reason they are not using the litterbox like they should.  But, hopefully, your veterinarian can work with you to fix the problem.
