Question
Hi, I have a 55.gal aquarium with 2 feather dusters 2 clownfish 20 pounds of live rock 1 aneome and 1 foxface fish(Rabbitfish). Got them today with the aneome, aneome seetled in well attached to a peice of live rock. But my foxface fish today when I turned off my light for 15 minutes and tirned back on he had brown spots on him. My petstore clerk told me that's when he gets stressed could the light being turned off stress him out if so how am I supposed to turn off the light.

Answer
Hi Seth. If your foxface is acting normal and eating good then there is nothing to worry about. While these fish do change their colors when stressed out, they also will change when sleeping, hiding, frightened, chased, while your cleaning the tank, changing the bulbs, adding a new decoration and a whole other array of reasons. I have had one of these in the store I work in for a few months now and he does this when I clean the tank. Yet he is eating and doing well in all other aspects. Last night I turned the lights off to the tank to change the bulbs and when I turned them back on he was all spotty again. After a few minutes he was back to his normal colors and eating! Do not worry. While it can be a sign of stress if he is constantly looking this way, these fish do this so much that after a while of having him you will discover that it is no real cause for concern!
