Chocolate Chip Starfish

QUESTION: I have a chocolate chip starfish. Ive had it for 5 days no and today i noticed that its not moving alot and that its curling up. Im worried. Should i?

Can you pleaes tell me a little bit about your tank?  How big is it, how old is it. what type of equipment/lilghting, filtration, etc...

Also, please tell me a little bit about your water conditions... what is the salinity, pH, etc...

Starfish need an 'established'/mature system to survive...

If the tank isnt mature, it will starve...

There could also be some critter in there that is picking on the starfish...

You can 'test' the general health of most starfish by flipping them over..  and then timing them to see how quickly they will right themselves... if they can turn themselves over in 30 seconds...then they are really healthy.. if it takes a couple minutes, then maybe they are not doing well right now...

Anyways, get back to me on the questions and info above and we can talk about this some more..

QUESTION: Well today i noticed that it had some little peices on the end of its "feet" are off. i have two damsels and a maroon clownfish.

It sounds like something in the tank is picking at it...

Maybe a mantis shrimp or harelquin shrimp???

I would suggest finding a new home for that starfish...
