Question
Hi there, i have an Aqua Reef 200 marine set up, lights pump skimmer are all stock! My livestock consists of a small Yellow Tang, a fireball angelfish and a mating pair of clownfish. I also have a mating pair of cleaner shrimps along with hermit crabs. My question is what other fish could i add to my setup that will be reef safe but also strikingly beautiful, i am unsure what to add and i am wary as my Fireball angel is aggresive when i make any additions. thanks

Answer
Hi Paul,

There are several other possibilities.

To help with your Fireball Angel aggression, make sure to offer lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing within your aquarium.

When introducing new fish, I'd recommend using a partitioning device inside your aquarium. This will allow the other resident fish to see the new addition for a few days, giving them a chance to get used to the fish, before fully releasing from the partition.

Below is a few recommendations on reef safe fish, that have made my favorites list:

Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)

Bicolor Blenny (Ecsenius bicolor)

Greenbanded Goby (Elacatinus multifasciatum)

Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)

Marine Betta (Calloplesiops altivelis) (Minimum tank size 50 gallons)

McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri) (Minimum tank size 50 gallons) also make sure your aquarium is fully covered, these guys like to jump.

Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus) (Minimum tank size 50 gallons)

Spotted Mandarin (Synchiropus picturatus) (Should be an expert hobbyists to care for this fish) It will require live foods.

I hope this helps and I wish you luck with all of your saltwater aquarium endeavors.

Regards,
Dave
