Question
Hi,
I am going to Kallar, a small sanctuary in Southern India. I am being taken from my school. I heard there are some fish found in the ponds and streams. I also heard that some fish are taken and sold by Pet Shops in that region.

My question is, will the fish survive a 12 hour journey from Kallar to Chennai? in an oxygenated cover? The fish found there are Chromides, Rosey Barbs and Silver Carps. I will be visiting Kallar during the second week of February.

Answer
Hi Srinivas,
I would say your fish would be OK for the 12 hour trip. As long as you insure they are provided with oxygen and lots of it and you don't let them get chilled. Ammonia can buildup in that period of time so it may be best to use an ammonia neutralizer in their water.

Just watch their condition and make sure they aren't too stressed during the trip. And get them into an aquarium straight away when you arrive. Good luck!!!!

Happy fishkeeping!
