angel fish dying

Question
my son brought home and angel fish and a beta fish to put in a fish bowl yesterday.  They said that they would be fine together because the beta was a female.  When we got home today (about 24hrs after bought) the angel fish is "resting" on the side close to the bottom of the tank.  It is still alive but not eating and not swimming.  I placed it in a different cup of water without the beta.  I cannot figure out what else to do?  Thank you.

Answer
Hello,

Is your bowl heated? If not, this is very likely the cause of your angel fish being so docile. Angelfish are tropical fish and like their water to be warm- between 75-79 F. Bettas and angelfish actually will get along if the angelfish aren't too aggressive, but angelfish must be in heated water to survive.

I hope this helps.

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
