Question
hi my name is Courtney and i have 3 fish.2 delta guppies.i have one that i do not know what  breed she is.but she is way big and i think shes pregnant.the store i got her from had male and female in the tank.do you know if shes pregnant.

Answer
Hi Courtney,
I can say that she is most likely pregnant. Female guppies stay pregnant the majority of the time. They breed like rabbits and females are able to have several broods from just one mating.

They usually have their fry after about 4 weeks or so. Give or take. Younger, smaller females will have fewer fry than older large females. Providing plenty of plant cover in the main aquarium can often enable you to allow the female to deliver her babies in the main aquarium and have many fry survive due to them being able to hide in plant cover. They will eat powdered flake food and soon grow large enough and be confident enough to swim out and about with the adult guppies.

Frequent 20% water changes a few times a week will really help the fry in their growth. As will frequent small feedings throughout the day. Just be careful cause its easy to overfeed. Provide just enough that each little fish can have 1-2 nibbles at a time. That's all they need.

Best wishes and I hope this helps!
Karen~
