Question
i want a spotted green puffer and i was wondering if they live in freshwater or saltwater? and if they do live in freshwater would they get along with a betta?

Answer
Hi Devlyn
Green spotted puffers are usually and mistakenly sold as freshwater fish.  Not sure on their exact origins, but I do believe they start out in freshwater(could be wrong on that I"ve never researched that), but I would say 90%+ of fish stores sell them from a freshwater tank.  They will need to be slowly acclimated to a brackish set up(part fresh part marine/salt water), and eventually a high end brackish to full marine set up.

Absolutely no puffer show be kept with a betta :)  Most puffers are fairly to very aggressive, and a lot of them won't even tolerate another puffer in the tank with them.  So, it's best to keep puffers in a species only tank.  Some people claim that their puffer is fine with community fish, but....eh just not worth it in my opinion.

Good luck!
