Honey Gouramis Not eating

Question
I just started up a new 10 gallon tank about 2 weeks ago.I added fish (1 gouramis, 3 platty) to this tank about 3 days ago. All the fish still appear healthy except the gouramis. He has stopped eating and seems lethargic in the tank except to come to the surface and grab some air. I have checked ammonia levels and they are fine; I even placed a live plant in the aquarium and I am at a loss as to what is wrong with the gouramis. Any answer would be helpful. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Apryll,
You mention that your just set up your tank two weeks ago, your tank is still cycling as any tank will take six weeks to cycle. This will explain why your Gourami is behaving this way. To cycle your tank you must do daily water changes of about 30% to stop the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels from getting too high.

Good luck!
Chloe.
