Answer
hey Justin,

I'm not sure about this particular breed of fish and whether they can change color or not, but I wouldn't doubt that they can.

Most fish can actually change color to some extent, for example, with a lot of breeds the most dominant fish have a brighter coloration. Gourammis are a good example of this.

They can sort of change their pigment, I'm pretty sure they just sort of stretch their skin slightly or "un stretch" it, to make it brighter or darker. Fish with their fins standing up tend to be brighter than those with their fins down, which indicates it might have to do with their mood.

Any way, I'm sure it is normal for your fish, and even if it isn't, I don't see how it would be dangerous for your fish.

If I find any good websites that will explain all of this, I will send them to you. So far, I searched but didn't find any.

Good luck with your puffer! they are the cutest!
best wishes, chelsey
