Flesh-Eating Disease?

Question
One of my community cichlid tanks has taken a serious turn for the worst. For the past three days, I have come home to find another one or two have passed from some sort of flesh eating disease. I'm not sure if it is a fungus or bacteria, but whatever it is, it is fast moving. It is easily the most horrific and rapid disease I have ever come across. It begins with a fish showing the symptoms of semi-large sections of their body wearing away (like they got scraped up or in a bad fish fight) and within two to three days the fish will be a partial skeleton, swimming around erratically, and on the brink of death. I have been treating the tank for the past two days against fungi and bacteria, but to no avail. I fear within a few days, there will be no remaining survivors.

Answer
Hi Erica,
This sounds like a severe case of a bacterial infection. This is highly contagious so i would remove the infected fish to a separate tank and treat the main tank. Use some aquarium salt to help with this bacterial infection.

Hope this helps
Chloe.
