Question
I have a medium sized goldfish and a very small ocar. Can i put the goldfish in the aqurium with the ocar? I'm not sure about the water temp for the goldfish

Answer
Hi Tamara
The short answer is that you can not put the two fish together as your Oscar and grow quite large and like all cichlids can be a bit boisterous.
You're right that the water temperature would also not be suitable for a goldfish - Oscars prefer something in the range of 74F to 81F - ideally around the 77F mark, whereas your goldfish would like it a little cooler (mid 50's to upper 60's).
As for suitable tankmates, any large non-aggressive fish should work nicely - usually from the same region (south America) - Pacu's and Silver dollars work best. You can also add a fancy pleco (or a common - except those just look real plain). This is all assuming you have a 55g tank or larger. The minimum space needed for your fish is 40g.
Good Luck
